The Commuter Choice for Employers program encourages employers in Wake, Durham and Orange Counties to help reduce peak-time traffic congestion, and harmful pollution through Commute Trip Reduction (CTR).

CTR provides commuters with resources and incentives to reduce their vehicle trips, particularly during peak commute hours, by using one or a combination of the following alternative transportation modes:

• ridesharing and transit use
• zoning and ordinances that promote transit use and mixed-use development
• public education about transportation issues
• park-and-ride facilities
• various driving disincentives and ridesharing incentives
• commute trip reduction program
