Research Triangle Park, N.C. - The Triangle Transit Authority (TTA) will provide special holiday Park-and-Ride service this year. TTA will run the special Park-and-Ride service on Thanksgiving Sunday, November 30, 2003 from Noon until 8 P.M.
"This is traditionally one of the busiest travel days of the year," said John Tallmadge, Director of Commuter Resources for TTA. "It's estimated that nearly 15,000 people will use the airport on that Sunday and we know people want to focus on time with their families and friends, not on their transportation. That's why we're providing a new convenient choice for getting to and from RDU Airport on the busiest travel weekend of the year."
Downtown Durham's Park-and-Ride for the special holiday service is located across from the Durham Area Transit Authority (DATA) Bus Center at the West Village Apartments. The RTP location is at the TTA Bus Transfer Center at NC 54 and Davis Drive. Travelers can park their vehicle at either of the specified Park-and-Rides and use TTA's regular shuttle service to RDU on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday before Thanksgiving* and use the special service from RDU to either Park-and-Ride lot on Sunday. (*TTA will not be running service on Thanksgiving Day or Friday, November 28).
The cost for the special holiday Park-and-Ride service is $3 per person or $7 for a family of three or more. TTA forms for parking in the Durham or RTP Park-and-Ride lots are available on line at www.rideTTA.org, www.GoTriangle.org, DATA's Transfer Center, TTA's Bus Transfer Center or by calling TTA's Customer Service Department at 549-9999.
TTA is a regional public transportation provider, offering a wide variety of transit and vanpool services to North Carolina's greater Triangle Region and outlying counties. Bus service is available to Apex, Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, Garner, RDU International Airport, RTP and Raleigh. The Triangle Transit Authority also provides commuter resources and hosts GoTriangle.org, the new on line resource for the public transportation information in the Triangle. TTA plans to implement a 35 mile rail transit system with 16 stations connecting Durham, RTP, Cary and Raleigh, with shuttles linking RDU International Airport and RTP. The rail transit system is expected to be operational in late 2007 or early 2008. For more information, visit www.rideTTA.org or call (919) 549 9999. |
