Research Triangle Park, N. C. - Triangle Transit Authority (TTA) has hired Greg Northcutt to serve as senior project manager for its Rail Transit System. Northcutt will begin working at TTA on Sept. 2, 2003.
Northcutt comes to TTA from the Spokane (Wash.) Transit Authority where he served as project manager for its light rail project in its conceptual engineering phase. Prior to his work in Spokane, Northcutt served as the deputy executive director for engineering and construction at the Bi-State Development Agency in St. Louis.
"Greg brings with him over 8 years of exceptionally strong transit planning, design and construction experience, having worked on light rail systems in St. Louis and Spokane, said Don Carnell, assistant general manager for planning and engineering. "We are excited to have somone of his caliber join us on this project."
A veteran of the transit industry with experience in a variety of projects, Northcutt served 22 years as an officer in the United States Air Force. During his time with the Air Force, Northcutt gained experience in the design, procurement and operation of aviation system.
Northcutt received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri at Columbia. He earned his master's degree in Business Administration from Phillips University.
TTA is a regional public transportation provider, offering a wide variety of transit services to North Carolina's greater Triangle Region and outlying counties. In addition to its regional bus services and commuter resources, TTA plans to implement a 35-mile transit system with 16 stations connecting Durham, RTP, Cary and Raleigh, with shuttles linking RDU International Airport and RTP.
