Research Triangle Park, N.C. - The Triangle Transit Authority (TTA) will take Durham Bulls fans out to the ball game this season. Starting April 7th, TTA will provide express buses to Durham Bulls home games on Friday and Saturday nights.
“The Bulls have great fans and we’re pleased to be partnering with them this season,” said John Tallmadge, director of commuter resources for TTA. “The ‘Go Bulls Express’ will be an extension of the excitement of the game, and will provide a hassle-free alternative to hunting for a parking space.” Fans riding the “Go Bulls Express” will enjoy music on the way to the game, and children will receive surprise give-aways.
TTA’s scheduled departure times for the “Go Bulls Express” will be 60 minutes before game time at the Cary Train Station in downtown Cary; 50 minutes before game time at the NC 54-East park-and-ride lot on Friday Center Drive in Chapel Hill; and 45 minutes before game time at Renaissance Center across from the Streets at Southpoint on Fayetteville Road in Durham.
The express will arrive at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park 20 minutes before game time and will make return runs during and after the game. Bulls fans can catch buses to their park-and-ride 10 minutes after the game ends (or after the fireworks). For the convenience of families with young children, TTA will also offer return trips at 8:30pm for games that begin at 7 p.m. and at 6:30pm for games that begin at 5 p.m.
As part of the inaugural weekend, riding the Durham Bulls Shuttle will be FREE for you and your family on April 8 and 9 when you present a pass to the driver. The downloadable pass is available at:
www.rideTTA.org/gobulls. Fares for the remainder of the season will be $2 for adults and $1 for youth ages 11 to 18. Children 10 or younger ride free.
The Durham Bulls were founded in 1902. The 1988 movie “Bull Durham” starring Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins brought the Durham Bulls national attention. The team plays in the International League and is affiliated with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays of the American League.
TTA is a regional public transportation provider, offering a wide variety of transit and vanpool services to North Carolina's greater Triangle Region and outlying counties. Bus service is available to Apex, Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, Garner, RDU International Airport, RTP and Raleigh. The Triangle Transit Authority also provides commuter resources and hosts GoTriangle.org, the popular on-line resource for public transportation information in the Triangle.
TTA plans to implement a 28-mile rail transit system with 12 stations connecting Durham, RTP, Cary and Raleigh, with shuttles linking RDU International Airport and RTP. The rail transit system is expected to be operational in 2008. For more information, visit
