Research Triangle Park, N.C. - Triangle Transit Authority (TTA) will make changes to several routes on Monday, July 2.
In response to growing demand, two new trips on TTA’s Chapel Hill to Raleigh express service (Route 500) will be added each morning, leaving Chapel Hill at 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM. Route 500 will also add two trips from Raleigh each afternoon, leaving Wilmington Street at 5:10 PM and 6:10 PM.
TTA’s Route 550 Express is adding two additional trips to Chapel Hill each morning at 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM and two trips from Chapel Hill each afternoon at 5:00 PM and 6:10 PM.
TTA will add midday regional bus service between Cary and Raleigh on Route 303. The new service will have hourly stops at the Cary Train Station, Chatham Square, NCSU on Western Blvd., Downtown Raleigh and the State Government Loop.
A new shuttle, 49, will begin serving the Davis Drive/Kit Creek in the Research Triangle Park employment area, presently served by Route 310. Route 310 service is being discontinued.
In announcing the service changes, TTA General Manager David King said, “We are making these adjustments in our routes and schedules to provide more efficient and effective transit service. Based on feedback we receive, we continually work to improve the rider’s experience and we believe these changes will help us achieve our goal.”
There will be some service discontinued effective July 2: Shuttle 45 service will not operate in RTP between 9AM and 3:05PM. Service on Route 248 east of the Alexander-Page Road intersection will be eliminated, including the connection to Brier Creek. The service will be renamed Route 48.
