Research Triangle Park, N.C. – The Triangle Transit Authority Board of Trustees today named David King the agency’s General Manager. King has served as TTA’s interim General Manager since last October.
In announcing today’s decision, Board Chair Alice Gordon said, “We are pleased that David has agreed to continue on as TTA’s General Manager. He has provided excellent leadership for our agency and during his tenure we have seen dramatic increases in our ridership. We are excited that he will continue his work to improve the region’s transit options now and in the future.”
King joined TTA on October 9, 2006. Today’s decision extends King’s contract through October 9, 2009.
Prior to joining TTA, King was Deputy Secretary for the NC Department of Transportation. As Deputy Secretary, he was responsible for the department's five multimodal divisions, including the Public Transportation Division and the Rail Division. In that role, he also helped initiate TTA's regional vanpool, carpool and bus services.
TTA is a regional public transportation provider, offering a wide variety of transit and vanpool services to North Carolina's greater Triangle Region and outlying counties.
Bus service is available to Apex, Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, Garner, Hillsborough, RDU International Airport, RTP and Raleigh. The Triangle Transit Authority also provides commuter resources and hosts GoTriangle.org, the on-line resource for public transportation information in the Triangle.
TTA is the implementation agency responsible for carrying out a regional transit plan connecting Durham, RTP, Cary, Raleigh, RDU International Airport and Research Triangle Park.
