Research Triangle Park, N.C. (December 10, 2004) To make it easier to know when the bus is coming, Triangle Transit Authority (TTA) has installed “transit tubes” at stops in Chapel Hill and Durham.
“Information reduces uncertainty,” said John Tallmadge, TTA Director of Commuter Resources. “The tubes provide riders with maps, fare information and when the TTA bus will be at a particular stop. We think this will be a great asset to the customer and is part of our continuing effort to provide them with the information that they want.”
The displays have been placed at the following locations:
Chapel Hill
South Road at UNC Fetzer Gym
Manning Drive (near UNC Hospital)
South Road at UNC Student Union
Durham
Morgan Street at DATA Bus Terminal
Erwin Road at Duke Hospital
Lawson Street at Durham Technical Community College
Lawson Street at NCCU – North Carolina Central University
New Hope Commons Shopping Center
Streets At Southpoint
Westgate Drive (Burger King)
Woodcroft Parkway at Woodcroft Shopping Center
Erwin Road at VA Hospital
This is the first round of installations for the signs. The multi-year expansion plan includes placing the “transit tubes” at TTA’s major stops in Raleigh and at the RDU International Airport.
