TTA Communications
TTA provides a crucial service to the residents of the Triangle. As a result, the media have a keen interest in TTA and our services. Representatives from the TTA Communications Office assist the media by providing information about the Triangle Transit Authority and the operations of Regional Bus and Shuttle Service, Vanpool, Carpool and Regional Rail.

All requests for information, interviews or photographic/digital images should be made in advance to the TTA Communications Office at (919) 485-7434. We will try to provide the information, spokesperson or photographic/digital image within your deadline.
If you want to film, photograph, or interview customers on TTA property, please make your request in advance through the Communications Office.
Document Requests
All document requests should be made to the Communications Office. We will discuss your request with you and let you know when the information is ready. If there is not a digital copy of the document available, TTA may assess a charge of $.08 per page.
While on TTA Property
If you are on TTA property for an interview or to review requested information, a TTA staffer will meet you at the location and assist you during your visit. For your safety and security, please stay with your assigned TTA representative while on our property.
Any additional requests or questions while you are on TTA property should be addressed to the representative assigned by Communications.
When filming (live or taped), taking a still photograph, or conducting interviews while on TTA property, please allow our passengers to enter/leave buses, shuttles, vanpools and transfer areas without obstruction. Please do not block or restrict the movement of Regional Bus and Shuttle customers. If a TTA rider declines your interview or photo request, please respect the passenger’s wishes.
Emergency Procedures
It is our policy to share confirmed information on serious incidents with the media as soon as possible. We will work to provide you with updates as more information on a serious incident becomes available to us.
When an emergency occurs that will generate extensive media coverage, the following procedures will be put in place:
1. The early minutes of an emergency situation are dedicated to the emergency response. Once known, a designated TTA spokesperson will endeavor to provide the following information:
*date and time of incident
*type of TTA vehicle and number of persons on the vehicle
(if confirmed)
*general description of incident
*effect on TTA operations
2. At the site of a serious incident, media access and movement may be restricted by law enforcement or medical personnel to allow a safe and orderly response.
3. If the incident warrants, the TTA Communications Office may distribute an advisory designating a media staging area. Media identification will be required for access to the media area and to the incident site. A TTA communications representative will be located at the staging area to assist media.
4. In the event of a serious incident, media can reach the Communications Office (919) 485-7434 during regular business hours (8:30 AM to 5:30 PM). Between 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM weekdays and from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturdays media may call TTA Customer Service (919) 549-9999 and ask the Customer Service representative to get in contact with the Communications staffer on call.
5. For emergencies or events taking place on TTA property, but not related to TTA operations, the TTA Communications Office will endeavor to assist that agency with the dissemination of information as necessary.
