New Routes? Where will they stop?
One route would operate between Durham and Raleigh, the other between Chapel Hill and Raleigh. Each route would have three departures in the morning, and three departures in the afternoon, though the schedules have not been finalized yet, but travel times are expected to be in the 55 to 70 minute range from the first to last stop. The routes would be limited-stop service. The stops on each route are listed below. You will notice that the afternoon routes are the "mirror image" of the morning route in reverse. ("DT"="Downtown")

What will the fare be for these routes?
Due to the limited stop nature of the route and the long distance covered, the fare will be $2.50 for a one-way trip. TTA will begin selling discounted day passes and 30-day passes that are valid for use on the express routes, as well as all other TTA routes. Click Here for more information.
Why Propose these new routes?
In the past few years, TTA has received a steady stream of requests for more direct services connecting Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill that do not stop for connections at TTA's RTP Bus Transfer Center. Additionally, a 2003 study of potential park-and-ride services in the region identified several destinations in the region whose characteristics were likely to support park-and-ride services.
What are the benefits of the proposed services?
The TTA Direct service concept will provide a one-seat ride for Durham-Raleigh and Chapel Hill-Raleigh commuters, linking transit centers and park-and-ride lots that serve the most parking-constrained destinations in the region.
TTA Direct service will expand the number of destinations commuters can reach using transit during peak hours be traveling long distances at high speeds. By linking transit hubs, park-and-ride lots, and promising park-and-ride destinations, TTA can better retain existing riders and attract new riders with faster service.
How will TTA Direct make for faster transit trips?
By traveling primarily on highways and by making a limited number of stops, TTA can significantly reduce trip times. The table below compares rush hour travel times in TTA's current timetable with likely TTA Direct rush hour travel times. (TTA staff are still working to finalize the schedule, but these are the best current estimates we have for travel time.)

Will these buses replace any existing routes in the same corridors such as 105, 107, or 412/413 between Durham and RTP?
No. TTA Direct will operate during rush hour IN ADDITION TO the existing TTA bus services.
